Intro to Ayurveda Class
I’m so excited that LB Parks and Recreation is hosting this class! First, because I love Long Beach. Secondly, because Parks-n-Rec has the best classes. Registration for this class is directly through Parks-n-Rec and opens on February 5.

Age group: 15 and up
Class Fee: $46
Days/Times: Saturdays 1:30-3p; March 10,17, 24 (3- week course; 1.5hr classes)
Description: Ayurveda is the holistic healing system yoga originates from. Join Dr. Mohan to learn the basics of this ancient healing approach and how it compares to Western Medicine. By the end of this interactive class, you will have insight into your constitution, your areas of imbalance, and how to begin addressing your health (mental and physical) with ayurveda. Space is limited!
Class 1: Ayurveda basics
-Define ayurveda and give anthropological background -Basic Vedic philosophy 1: Everything is energy -Lifestyle and habits determine health -5 elements and 3 doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha -Examples of doshas in body, mind, and universe
Class 2: Using ayurveda to learn about yourself
-Basic Vedic philosophy 2: Individuality -Constitution: determining your type -Vikruti: where you are now -Patterns of healthClass 3 Finding balance with ayurveda.
-What is imbalance? -Signs of imbalance: Vata, Pitta, Kapha -Causes of Disease -Focus on the qualities to know doshas
